In our previous post, we helped you make your site look better, and increased engagement with your visitors so that you can make more money. Today, let’s look at some tools that will make sure your readers keep coming back, make things easier for you on the back end, and help you do some split-tests and analysis right on your site.

Keep them coming back

8) Keep your readers coming back by including a Progress Bar. Use it if you have a fundraising campaign, or if you are working on a project, or counting how many slots are left in your program, or for almost anything you can think of. Here are some very good directions for how to add it and style it.

9) One of the uses for a progress bar may be to run a fundraising campaign. This is always a good idea, even if you are not a non-profit. Yes, it’s good business to give to organizations and people who need it, but even more importantly, it’s the right thing to do. Many people are not in the habit of sharing, so encourage your readers to think of others by leading a campaign to raise funds for something related to your work and values. You will attract people who share those values, and that is good for you, for them, and for the recipients of your donations. Here is how to add a Paypal Donate button to your site.

10) To increase time on site, and to get your readers to come back for more, install the Related Posts plugin. The plugin uses its own algorithm to determine relatedness, and it works at lightning speed. It also allows you to modify relationships simply, which helps for internal linking and SEO. Post it in your sidebar to keep your readers’ attention.

Making things easier for you

11) Those images you added earlier? To increase your ability to be found, you need to make sure the titles and alt tags are exactly what people are searching for. This is made much simpler, and more uniform, when you install the Format Media Titles plugin.

12) Keep track of your video statistics by installing the YouTube Analytics plugin. This installs a widget in your dashboard where you can analyze such stats as the number of views, minutes watched, average view duration, video likes and dislikes, and the number of comments on your video. Since we all know that video is a critical component of any content marketing plan, this makes it simple to tell how you are doing.

Website analysis

13) If you can’t hook people with your title, you can’t get them to read the first line. If they don’t read the first line, you can’t get them to commit to becoming a customer. So test your headlines with the free Title Experiments plugin. When you can test your titles, you can find out what your readers are most interested in and you’ll get more clicks, and ultimately, more customers.

14) Do you ever wonder what inspires your readers and prospects? Well the wondering is over with Clickmap! Get a “heat map” about where your prospects click, which parts of your pages and site are frequently used – and which are not – and even how deeply your readers scroll. Using these data points you can optimize your site and get more leads.
