I can kick myself today about it…

For the first handful of years trying to build my online business there was one part of my mindset that held me back BIG TIME.

I didn’t really see it then…

But, I totally see it today.

It was the way I viewed paid traffic.

Or, more accurately, the way I viewed the “risks” associated with paying for website traffic.

For me, anytime I thought of paying for traffic, my mind always migrated toward “what if this doesn’t work” or “what I would lose” if I didn’t turn enough of the traffic into sales.

I was focused on what I would be “sacrificing” if things didn’t work. On, the “cost”.

And, allowing my mind to think like that… well… it held me back from investing in my business in ways I needed to… to really grow my sales and income.

For years I tried to rely on “free traffic” methods. And, totally convinced myself (read: lied to myself) that there was no need to “risk” my money to build my business and income.

What a putz!

It wasn’t until I heard this one multi-millionaire direct response marketer, TJ, talk about his mindset that I realized how limiting and constraining my own mindset was.

Here’s what TJ said (paraphrased):

“I always focus on what I would miss out on if I didn’t invest… if I skipped the opportunity and missed out. I focus my mind on ‘what if this works out really well’ and what that would look like. And that perspective gives me the motivation and inspiration to move forward.”

As soon as I heard that, I recognized how far off I had been with my thinking.

And I immediately made the decision to try as hard as I could to adopt his mindset.

Fast forward to today…

I no longer think of investments in traffic, investments in building my team, or investments in improving my marketing knowledge and skills as “costs” or as “loss”.

I recognize that… thinking like that is NOT how the winners think. And, if I want to be and remain a “winner” I can’t allow myself to think like that.

And, neither can you.

Like the saying goes…

“Fortune favors the bold”.

It doesn’t say fortune favors the frozen by fear.

No.

It’s not what you’re going to lose out on if you make an investment in your business…

It’s what you’ll lose out on if you don’t make the investment.

It’s focusing, instead, on what you stand to gain… and how you stand to benefit… by making the investment.

Please, think about it.
